MODULE:
EXECUTIVE SESSION ON FAITH-BASED AND COMMUNITY APPROACHES
TO URBAN REVITALIZATION
Welcome to the Executive
Session on Faith-based and Community Approaches to Urban
Revitalization site, a product of the Hauser Center for
Nonprofit Organizations, Harvard University, and the Ash
Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation, Kennedy
School of Government, Harvard University. This Executive
Session was launched in 2002 with support from the Pew
Charitable Trusts.
This project aimed to develop and disseminate ideas to
improve faith-based and community approaches to urban
revitalization. It brought together a group of 30 mayors,
religious and civic leaders, and academics from across the
country who, together, brought a wide range of experiences
related to urban revitalization. The issue of collaboration
emerged as the major focus of the session. As such, this
website provides teaching resources for educators of public
sector and religious leaders on cross-sector collaboration
involving public agencies and religious institutions.
We invite all of you to read Professor Mark Moore's introductory
thoughts. Furthermore, if you are interested in

please see the City Hall and Religion: An Online Curriculum
for Public Managers. If you are interested in viewing the
curriculum module designed for educators of religious
leaders, please see the Public Religious Leadership
Module.
