William F. Baker is senior research fellow at the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations and president emeritus of Educational Broadcasting Corporation (EBC), the licensee of Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21 New York, after serving as chief executive officer of EBC for 20 years. Baker has taken a leading role in helping to shape American broadcasting in both the commercial and public sectors.

Author, lecturer and recipient of many honors and awards, he is a sought-after expert in the field and a well-known advocate for the educational potential of television. Baker previously served a dual role as president of Westinghouse Television, Inc., and chairman of Group W Satellite Communications, where he was instrumental in establishing five cable networks, including the Disney Channel and Discovery Channel. He received his BA, MA and PhD degrees from Case Western Reserve University, and he is the recipient of honorary degrees from several universities.
